Dabbling with Dylusions !

For my Katzelkraft DT project I decided to have a play with some Dylusions spray inks and I have to say I love them !

I sprayed Lemon Zest, Fresh Lime, Cut Grass and London Blue Dylusions ink sprays over the tag. Then I used the new Summer DI's, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean and Picked Raspberry. The colour that materialised when I used the Picked Raspberry over the Dylusions sprays was gorgeous ! Then I used a Crafters Workshop template and sprayed it with water and while it was still wet flipped it over and pressed it on to the ink.

I've used the Steamkatz and Fleurs stamp sets. The body form has been stamped onto a separate piece of card that I've used the same sprays and DI on and then I cut it out and mounted it onto foam pads. I used another numbers Crafters Workshop template and this time I rubbed Picked Raspberry DI over it instead. I sprayed some seam binding with Dylusions sprays and left it at that ! I didn't want to cover up any of the colours from the ink sprays so didn't reach for any embellies this time and I quite like it ! 

All of the stamps I've used are avaialable exclusively from The Craft Barn in the UK of Katzelkraft in France.

Floral or Flowers at FSC

Happy Bank Holiday Sunday everyone ! I hope you're enjoying your week end so far, the weather where we are is being reasonably kind which is alot better than the forecast! 

It's time for the next challenge over at The Fashionable Stamping Challenge and this time we would like to see floral or handmade flowers on your project. I opted for handmade flower, as I love adding them to most of my projects! Do make sure you hop over to the main blog to check out the rest of the DT's fabulous work. 

 I made a jumbo tag using lots of purple ! It's not a colour I use very often but I'm rather pleased with the end result ! I started by stamping the Tim Holtz flourish stamp with Archival Vermillion, then I stamped it again over the top using Matt Multi Medium. When the glue was dry I blended the DI over the top and did some more stamping using the Tim Holtz Mixed Media and Fairytale Frenzy stamp sets. 

The main image is from an Indigo Blu stamp set which I've stamped onto Speciality Stamping Paper and cut out. The material is an old sheet which I've stamped on using some stamps from the Indigo Blu stamp set. The flower is made from the same material using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die. All of the embellishments and lace are from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Anyone for tea?

Here we are at Friday again, and it's also time for the next challenge over at The Stamp Man. This time Jill has challenged us to 'Alter it!' I love this kind of challenge and it took me ages to decide what I would alter. In then end I settled for this little tea chest that originally had some Christmas tea in it.

I started by sanding down the paint around the edges and corners and the rest I intended to cover with card. Once I'd taken away the dark green colour I then applied alcohol inks using Terracotta, Stream and Lettuce.

Each of the panels have been given the DI treatment using Rusty Hinge, Ripe Persimmon, Shabby Shutters and Spiced Marmalade. I've used stamps from the Tim Holtz Mixed Media and the Fairytale Frenzy sets.

I really love the sentiment and the key is cut using the Tim Holtz Hardware die and I've done some extra doodling on it and then distressed it with black acrylic paint.

The letters to make the word tea are cut using the Tim Holtz WordPlay die and then I've blended DI over them and linked them together before sticking them down.

The flower is cut from metal using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die and then I embossed them using the Victoria EF. I used Lettuce, Terracotta and Espresso alcohol inks and then added a button from an old jacket to the centre.

I'm also entering this project in to the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge which is No Rules. 

How can you resist ?

It's time for the next challenge over at Frilly and Funkie and it's my turn to be the host !

I am a self confessed technique junkie, I love everything and anything that involves a new technique. I also have my ongoing favourites and Resist is one of them ! You can use different things to create a resist effect, acrylic paint, glue, embossing powder to name just a few. So let's see if you can Resist and show us how you can incorporate this into your projects ! Have fun !

I chose to use the acrylic paint resist technique, I just love it when you wipe away the ink and the image below is magically revealed ! This is a card I've made for my other half's birthday which is on the 1 September. He's a really keen amateur photographer, which is why I've included the photography elements. I started with the background and blended Peacock Feathers and Moved Lawn DI over some white card stock. I then stamped using the Tim Holtz Mixed Media stamp set and the Darkroom Door Photography set. I then die cut some white card stock and a piece of thick card using the Vintage Cabinet die. The thick card just adds a little more dimension. I used the stamp from the Mixed Media to stamp over it using white acrylic paint, then when it was dry blended Peacock Feathers, Moved Lawn, Salty Ocean and some Vintage Photo DI around the edges. The embossed panel is made using the Tim Holtz Steampunk EF and lots of DI.

The main text is from the Tim Holtz Fairytale Frenzy stamp set and I've used the same DI to blend over the text which was stamped with white acrylic paint. The filmstrip is cut using the Tim Holtz Filmstrip Frames die and I've blended som Pumice Stone and Black Soot DI over it. The little camera is from a stamp set I bought when I first started getting into crafting, it's amazing what you can still find a use for ! The twill ribbon has been stamped using a stamp from the Darkroom Door set and I've added a Type Charm to finish.

Altered Drawers !

For my Katzelkraft  DT project I decided to alter one of four sets of drawers that have been gathering dust in my craft room.

 I painted the drawers with white matt emulsion and then sanded them lightly. The panels are all made from white card that I've used Broken China and Peacock Feathers DI on. I've used several Katzelkraft stamps sets - Paris Monuments, Nature, Alphabet Corrupt, Steamkatz, Steampunk Swirl and Paris Postal.

 I've stamped all of the images with black Archival ink and then I've used a stencil over the top with more DI.

 This gorgeous dress from is from the new Steamkatz stamp set and the letters are from the Alphabet Corrupt set.

 I've used the Alphabet Corrupt again and the cogs are from the Steampunk Swirl and Steamkatz sets.

On the top panel I've stamped the feathers around the edge and stamped the text without using an acrylic block so that it didn't give a perfect result. I also couldn't resist doing some spritz and flick on the top panel too ! I thoroughly enjoyed making this project, I haven't done this much stamping on one thing for ages !

I'm also entering this project into the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge which is use your favourite technique, I've used a few on this project but I guess my no.1 favourite has to be spritz and flick !

Ice cream colours !

For The Fashionable Stamping Challenge this time we're in a summery mood and would like to see colours of ice cream ! Now, since I saw this challenge title I've been dreaming about a large bowl of vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberries ! I've not managed it yet, but I shall have to soon !

With the thought of vanilla ice cream in mind I used the opportunity to make a card for an order. The request was to have a canal theme and as it was for a Golden Wedding anniversary I kept to the vanilla ice cream colours. The stamps I've used for the canal boat and the watering can are ones I've had for years. I don't know who made them.....sorry ! I've used a Stamp Tapestry set on the watering can to add the flowers. The canal boat has been painted using Distress Markers, then both images have been cut out using Nestabilities. The ticket is from the Tim Holtz Odds and Ends stamp set. I find this stamp really useful for adding dates to projects. The background is made using Elusive Images stamps, stamped with Archival Sepia ink. The music, again is a stamp I've had for years and I don't know who it's by ! I did some acrylic paint resist on the remaining panel, not that you can see much of it !

The flower is made from Crinoline that I've tipped with Distress Ink, Scattered Straw. The gorgeous crocheted lace is from The Funkie Junkie Boutique, who has just taken delivery of CHA recent releases so make sure you check it out ! The sentiment was done on my PC and cut out using Nestabilites.

Bronze, silver or gold ?

The end of another week and it's time for the next challenge at The Stamp Man. We're celebrating the Olympics, which have been fantastic haven't they ! So, for this challenge we'd like to see bronze, silver or gold, or all 3 if you want on your project !

I started by cutting a tag using theTim Holtz tag die and then I blended Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick and Seedless Preserves DI over it. I stamped the flourish using the Tim Holtz Fabulous Flourishes stamp, the text is from the French Marketplace set and then I used the Haberdashery set for the dress form.

I stuck some Ranger Metal foil onto a piece of Grunge Paper and die cut the heart using a Sizzix die. I embossed it using the Victoria EF and then used Tim Holtz Tissue Tape and pleated it all around the edge. The swirl is made using the Elegant Flourishes die and I've blended DI over it. I then spritzed the whole tag using Perfect Pearls Mist Biscotti. The sentiment is from the Tim Holtz Odds & Ends stamp set.

Crafty with canvas !

It's time for the next challenge over at Frilly and Funkie and Linda is hosting us this time with a challenge of using canvas in your project.

Here is what Linda has to say:

I love using textiles in my art and canvas is such a fun and versatile fabric to use.  You can die cut it, emboss it, dye it by spraying or dipping.  You can use it in its raw state, coat the reverse side with gesso or multi medium to prevent fraying or use the sticky back kind.  You can stamp on it and make embellishments (flowers :) with it.  Oh, so many fun ways to use it in our art.  How are you going to use canvas for this challenge?

I decided to do some stamping onto canvas and then painting with acrylic paint. The canvas is Claudine Hellmuth's sticky back canvas which I've stuck to Grunge Paper. The stamps are a mixture of Katzelkraft and Serendipity. I've used PaperArtsy Fresco Finish acrylic paints, I've watered them down to give a softer colour. The sentiment is also stamped onto sticky back canvas that's stuck to Grunge Paper. I've distressed both canvases using some wet 'n' dry foam and acrylic paints. I've used a Texture Fades EF and stamped inside it using one of the Tim Holtz stamps from the Reflections set. The pieces down the right hand side are made with a PaperArtsy stamp that I stamped then cut into 3 pieces. The lady who this card is intended for loves owls so I wanted to make sure I used this stamp in some way !

I've used the Tim Holtz Weathered Clock die in the background. I stamped the background with a PaperArtsy stamp and blended Bundled Sage DI over the background and then sanded it with a sanding block.

Friday Focus at Frilly and Funkie !

It's my turn to do the Friday Focus over at Frilly & Funkie and today I'm focussing on embossing folders.

Jumbo Time Tag !

It's Thursday which means it's time to share my Katzelkraft DT project ! There have been some gorgeous new releases recently and the stamp set I've used for this tag is one of them and is the Steampunk Swirl set.

I started by stamping the centre and the corner stamps using white acrylic paint. When that was dry I then blended Peacock Feathers, Squeezed Lemonade and Mowed Lawn DI over the whole tag. I wiped over the top of the stamped images with a damp piece of kitchen roll to reveal the images. I then stamped the cog using Peacock Feathers DI and the text, which is from the Paris Postal set. I couldn't resist doing some spritz and flick, I can't believe how my hand automatically reaches for the water filled mini-mister !

The clock face and hands, which are made using the Tim Holtz die, are cut from Grunge Paper that's been covered with sticky back canvas (I'm in love with this at the moment too!). I've then used more Peacock Feathers DI around the edges. The butterfly is cut from the centre panel left over from the clock and I stamped onto it using the text stamp from the Paris Postal set using Peacock Feathers DI again. I've added some Ideaology and the cogs are a purchase I made when I was at the last ArtsyCraft workshop.

Quite a simple tag but I really like it ! Hopefully, our house will return to some sort of normality this week as the majority of the decorating is done. I've not been able to use my sewing machine and I'm now starting to get withdrawal symptoms !
