A Passion for Purple !

This is a very different experience for me as I'm in a holiday cottage in North Cumbria, and I've made this card by bringing a selection of bits from my craft room back home. This is my card for the Passion for Promarkers challenge this week. The main image is from a Tanda Stamps set which has been stamped with black Memento ink and then shaded with lilac, lavender, amethyst and aubergine Pro Markers. I've also use my Faber Pitt pens to add some shading to the wizard and stuck three star gems to the hem of his cloak. I've used a ticket punch on the corners and mounted him onto card that's been sponged with Versamagic Purple Petunia and Eggplant ink and finally mounted onto silver mirri card. The background papers are Basic Grey and the sentiment is from a Papermania set of stamps. If I'd been at home I would no doubt have added some more embellishments, but it will have to do.

So we've come up to North Cumbria for a week and so far it's rained, rained and rained some more ! Tomorrow's forecast isn't any different so I don't think we'll be wandering far. Good job the fridge is full of goodies !

Wedding in 3D !

This is a card that I've made for a lady at work that gets married on the 9 September. I'm pretty sure she doesn't look at my blog, I don't think she's got time at the moment especially ! This is also for the Stamptacular challenge which is to make something in 3D. I stamped the book twice onto white card and embossed with silver EP and then stamped again onto vellum and embossed again in silver EP. I then cut all three out but cutting along different lines so that they would layer. I used the handle of a paint brush to add some curve to one of the card pieces and to the vellum. I stuck them together just on the spine so that the pages would still stand up from the card. The background card is a Pink Petticoat design printed in silver and cut out using Labels 8 Nestabilities. As this was the largest die I then used it to draw around with an embossing tool and then cut it out so that it was slightly larger. The initials were cut from the Olivia alphabet set and 2 heart gems were added to the tassles on the stamped book.

This shot is to try and show how it stands away from the card giving it a 3D effect. I put the silver card behind it as my camera was struggling to focus on the card.

It's been a busy old day today so I was glad to be on my way home tonight. My Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine dropped through the letter box today and it's full of Christmas stuff. I haven't had my summer holiday yet ! Think I'll have a browse around some blogs before bed tonight.

Where is this week going !

I can't believe how quickly this week is going ! Yesterday just flew by and before I knew it, it was 10PM and way too late for me to think, let alone be creative ! I've just managed to get the above card done tonight before I fall asleep !
This card is for the Basic Grey challenge which was to use the colour combination, Pink, Brown and Yellow. The main image is from the Ollyfant Autumn set 2, which has been stamped with black Memento ink and then shaded with brown, pink and yellow Pro Markers. I've then sponged Distress inks around the edge in Antique Linen, Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo. I've cut it out using Labels 8 Nestabilities and layered it onto the next size up adding some faux stitching around the edge. The paper used is Basic Grey and the background paper is also Basic Grey. The toadstool, from the same set of stamps, was also shaded with Pro Markers and then cut out and mounted on foam pads. The flower is cut with a Cuttlebug die from the same Basic Grey paper and a coloured pearl added to the centre. The sentiment is cut from the pink Basic Grey paper using the smallest Labels 8 die and then stamped by colouring the stamp with a brown Pro Marker.

Well they weren't kidding when they said today would be horrible ! It's done nothing but rain all day....and guess what I got wet ! The dustbin men always leave the bin in the middle of the drive so every time I have to abandon the car in the middle of the road take the bins down the drive and then go back and move the car. By which time, as it's normally raining, I'm soaked ! I can hear the violins from here.....lol.......

Crikey here's another one !

Once I'd got my Katzelkraft stamps out I couldn't resist using them again ! This card is for the Winter Wonderland challenge and The Pink Elephant challenge. The main image was stamped with Cranberry Adirondack ink and then cut out with Labels 5 Nestabilities. I've swiped Cranberry ink around the edge and then mounted it on to foam pads. The papers are all Basic Grey and the sentiment is from the same set and stamped with black Memento ink. I've added some stickles to the main image for a bit of sparkle and finished it off with 2 peel off corners.

I've not had much time tonight as I was quite late getting home after finishing late and then having to go food shopping ( yak I hate doing that on a Monday!) So I put a time limit of making this card and I've really surprised myself ..... only took me an hour ! Must try that again sometime, as normally I can spend a whole day on one card !

I've succumbed !

I've given in and made my first Christmas card for this year. This is also my card for the last Mojo 100 sketch for this week, until they revert back to normal. The background squares were made from 2 stamps, one is from an Elusive Images set and the text is a wood mounted stamp, apologies I don't know who it's by. The holly stamp was stamped in Adirondack Pesto ink then Cranberry was sponged over it. The text stamp was stamped in Scarlet Red Stazon and then Lettuce Adirondack was sponged over the top. The main holly image is from the same Elusive Images set of stamps, stamped in Pesto onto a card that's been sponged with Lettuce ink. Then cut out with Labels 8. The text is from a Katzel kraft set of stamps, stamped in Pesto and mounted on foam pads. I've added some stickles to the holly and also to the words. The pearls are coloured with a red peel off pen, it wasn't quite the right colour but it had to do.

Drum roll please...........the tiling is finished ! Woohoo ! We still need to finish off the edging of the work tops and the cupboards, but the end is in sight ! I even gave the car a birthday and washed it !

Lookin' good !

This card was inspired by Secret Crafter's Saturday Challenge which was to use turquoise and brown and also Mojo 100 day 6 sketch. The main image is from a Tanda Stamps set called Retro Women. I absolutely love this set of stamps and this image I think is really classy. I would have loved to have lived at this time and worn the hats and dresses ! Anyway, the main image was stamped with Vintage Photo Distress ink, wasn't sure it would work but I'm pleased with the effect it's given the fur collar. I used Vintage Photo and Antique Linen to shade the image. I then used my NEW Nestabilities ( that arrived this morning !) this one is Labels Six. We've been out for most of the day today and I've been itching to get back and have a play ! I've sponged some Vintage Photo and Antique Linen around the edge and then mounted it onto the next size up cut from Bazill card. The background paper is Basic Grey and the edge punch is also a new arrival and is the Martha Stewart Doilly punch. The tape measure is a stamp from the TJ Designs Vintage Collage set which I stamped onto white card then sponged Antique Linen and Vintage Photo over it and trimmed it close to the image. The 'Lookin' Good' stamp is a Clarity stamp that I've had for ages.

Really enjoyed making this card and bizarrely enough I'm wearing the same colours ! I've been thinking today that there should be a new kind of holiday entitlement from work. Aswell as maternity leave there should be Crafter's leave so that we can take well earned time off to play with major new purchases. Do you think it will catch on ?
We went walking today around Hartshill Hayes Country Park it was absolutely beautful and really warm. We were absolutely shattered when we got back to the car. My feet have only just recovered ! Unfit or what !

Mojo Turns 100 - Day 5

This is my card for the Mojo Monday challenge for today. They're celebrating turning 100 so there's a different sketch each day. The main image is from the Ollyfant Autumn 2 set which I stamped in black Memento ink onto watercolour paper. I wanted to make it look a bit 'grungy' so I shaded it with my Faber Pitt pens as well as the umbrella, and cut it out with my Netabilities. The background strip is stamped in Adirondack Slate ink with leaves from different sets of Rubbadubbado and Serendipity stamps as well as a wood mounted stamp that I've had for years. I then stamped the small leaf with Adirondack Rust and sponged the same ink down the edges. The leaf in the corners was stamped with Adirondack Slate and then Rust was sponged over the top aswell as some Antique Linen Distress ink. The papers are Basic Grey.

I'm quite excited as I saw on Secret Crafter's web blog that there are some new colours coming out soon for Pro Markers. Looks like I'll be making a purchase soon !

Well it's been a mixed bag of weather today, though I have managed to get some washing dry. My other half cooked a lovely curry tonight for tea which we ate while watching Rick Stein, which was recorded. Would you believe it the athletics over ran so we lost the last 10 minutes ! How flippin' annoying is that !

Tanda Teaser ' Gate fold card '

This is my card for the Tanda Teaser this week which is to make a Gate Fold card. When I was thinking about what to do I was thinking 'doors', so I wanted to make the outer flaps look like the doors to something. Then I thought 'shed' then 'garden' and then I remembered some wonderful stamps I bought from Joanna Sheen which had a lovely greenhouse image included. So the first thing I did was to make some more card with the Moon Shadow ink and the cling film technique. While this was drying I made the panels for inside the card.

They don't show up too well on the photograph but the panels are made with Basic Grey paper then I stamped the grid, which is from a Rubbadubbado set, in Vintage Photo Distress ink. I then used the stamps from the Rubber Stamp Tapestry set, Yumy's Garden, to look like flowers growing up the trellis. The butterflies are also from a Rubbadubbado set and I've stamped them in black Memento ink and shaded with Pro Markers, then cut them out. I sponged some Antique Linen and Vintage Photo around the edge and mounted onto some Basic Grey paper. I stamped the border, which is from a Paper Artsy set, onto the centre panel then I masked it off and stamped the greenhouse, so it would look like it's behind a fence. I painted the fence with the distress inks and also the greenhouse. I sponged some more Distress ink around the edge then stamped the leaves in Adirondack Lettuce. I then put the panels for the front of the card through my Cuttlebug using the Distressed Stripes embossing folder and sponged some Vintage Photo over the top. The toadstool is also from the Joanna Sheen set and I've shaded it with Pro Markers and mounted on foam pads. The hinges were cut from some brown leather card and brads.

This is a close up of the inside, the colours haven't come out too well which always seems to be the problem when I take my photo's at night. The keen eye'd among you will have noticed that the card seems to stay shut by magic ! Actually, I put some low tack tape on the inside of the card to hold it shut while I took the photo. I've not worked out how to keep it closed yet, so any ideas would be greatly received !

Well what a contrast from yesterday ! It's been so windy, and the rain has been horizontal ! The garden keeps looking at me as it desparately needs weeding. I wish my plants would grow as well as the weeds do!

Wiper Card

This is my first attempt at a Wiper Card, you can see the tutorial here. I thought this was a really great idea, sort of along the same idea as a pop up card but a bit different. This is also

my card for The Pink Elephant challenge and the Colour Create challenge. Both challenges had the theme of Summer with the addtion from the Colour Create challenge of the colours blue, sand,silver and black. First of all I brayered the background with Stonewashed and Denim Aidrondack ink and then used Scattered Straw Distress ink to make the sand colour. The images are all from the Tanda Stamps Summer set 1, which I've stamped with Memento black ink. The child sitting on the sand is shaded with Pro Markers then cut out and mounted on foam pads. The eyelets were ones that came with my Cropodile and I thought they were perfect for representing the sun. This was then mounted onto silver mirror card. The kite was also stamped with black Memento and shaded with Pro Markers. The edge punch is a Martha Stewart and the blue card is Bazill. I thought this was a really fun card and will be having another go for sure !

What a beautiful day we've had today and according the the weather man we're in for possible a couple more days. Woohoo ....could it be this is our Summer ! Just wish I wasn't at work for the rest of the week. Fingers crossed it will be kind and give us a good day at the week end too. Here's hoping !

Friday Sketchers no 65

This is my card for the Friday Sketchers challenge. The main image is a Clarity stamp which I've stamped with black Memento ink and shaded with Pro Markers. I've stamped the corners with a Papermania stamp in Archival Sepia ink then sponged some Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress ink over the top. All of the papers are Basic Grey and the flowers are punched out of the same papers. The sentiment are peel offs that have been coloured with a peel off pen and mounted onto a Labels One Nestability shape which I've also sponged some Vintage Photo Distress ink around the edge of, as it looked too clean. The pearls are coloured with a pink peel off pen. I've been itching to use these papers and thought this was the perfect opportunity.

Well that's another Monday over with, I really don't like Mondays. It always feels like it's down hill once I'm passed the first day of the week. It's been a beautiful evening here and we actually went a walk after tea. So nice to be out without a rain coat ! The tiling is finished....but the grouting still needs finishing. Maybe I can side step that.........

Good Luck Iain !

This is an A5 card that I've made for a man at work. He's moving departments tomorrow and the people from his team asked me to make a card. I've kept it quite simple as it's going to get passed around for signatures and in my experience people aren't that careful, so I can just imagine things being pulled off etc !
The alphabet I've used is a Cuttlebug one called Olivia. The card I've mounted the letters on to has been brushed with Moon Shadow Ink in Golden Doubloons and Buccaneer Bay Blue. I love these inks as it gives your work a shimmer when it's dry from the pigment that's suspended in the ink. While it was still wet I layed cling film onto it and scrunched it with my fingers. When it's dry you're left with a wonderful pattern of pigment from the ink. I then ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Distressed Stripes embossing folder, then rubbed some Copper Brilliance ink over the top. The stamped edge is made using a freebie stamp I picked up from the NEC last year when I bought something else. I've then used Distress inks in Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo around the edge, same around the edge of the name plate. I've used my ticket punch on the corners of the name plate then swiped Vintage Photo around the edge.

I haven't spent quite as much time in my craft room today as I volunteered to do some grouting in the kitchen. I felt a bit guilty as I'd had all yesterday afternoon in my room and if I disapeared again, I'm not sure it would have gone down too well. I know one thing, it's blummin' hard work ! It's also not the best stuff for your hands, mine feel like sandpaper now....I shan't be volunteering again in a hurry !

Recessed card version 2 !

I was so pleased with the recessed card I did yesterday, I've done another one ! The main image is Yumy's Garden Rubber Stamp Tapestry, which I've stamped using Versamagic inks. I've cut it out using a square Nestability and it's mounted onto Bazill card. The spotty paper was a bargain buy from a local craft shop and was perfect to go with the Bazill card. The lacey strip is made with a Fiskars edge punch; cut a 3cm wide strip and then punch it down both edges, eh voila ! The flowers are just punched and the tiny white flower in the centre is one of the flowers left over from using the edge punch. The leaves are made with a Martha Stewart punch and I've run an embossing tool down the middle of the leaves to make them stand out. The sentiment is from a set of Papermania set of stamps which I've stamped with Versagmagic ink and cut out with a square Nestability. I've run the same ink around the edge to give it some definition.

This photo just shows the details off a little better.

Well I've had a lovely afternoon in my craft room, sorting and surfing and generally just doing any thing I felt like ! What a pity I can't do this every day. The tiling in the kitchen is almost done, hopefully by tomorrow night it will be finished ...hurrah !

Creatalicious Challenge no. 1

This is a card I started out making for my other half's birthday that is fast approaching, and then I saw that the first challenge had been set over on Creatalicious. The challenge being that as it's Father's Day over in Australia soon, to make a card for Dad but you have to include the colour brown and some metal on your card. Well I shall still give this card to my other half, but my Dad, god bless him, was also passionate about photography and he would have loved this card too. So this card is also for him. The card is my first attempt at a Recessed Window card, and I have to say for my first go it's turned out rather well. The base card is made from brown leather effect card, the background for the recess is the left overs from the card I sprayed with the Medici Mixed Medium - Wedgwood. The main image is a box brownie camera from the set of Darkroom Door stamps, which I've stamped in Denim Adirondack ink, cut out with Labels Two Nestabililites then sponged some Denim and Stonewashed ink around the edge. The paper is Basic Grey and I've used another scrap of the sprayed card to stamp the film reel onto, again in Denim ink. The two other images are also from the Darkroom door set of stamps again stamped in Denim. The metal frame is from a box of metal embellishments I've had for years and this is the first time I've used any thing from it. I've also added a dot of Glossy Accents in the centre of the camera image to make it look like there's a lens.

I thought this shot would show the recess off a little better. I think I shall be making some more cards in this style, though I have to say a Scor-Pal would make life alot easier.

I nearly wasn't able to finish this card tonight as, would you believe it, I've run out of double sided tape again and the post man couldn't fit the package of new rolls through the letter box ! So tomorrow morning I've got to head off to the Post Office depot to collect it. I really need to get ahead of myself, but it just never seems to work. I'm hoping for some quality craft time over the week end as we've nothing planned, so fingers crossed !

Tanda Teaser ' Tag it ! '

This is my card for Tanda Teaser this week called 'Tag it!', which as the title suggests, is to make a card including a tag. The main image was already stamped and watercoloured and I happened across it when I was having a sort out. I just sponged Distress Ink around the edge and cut it into a tag shape. The background is a piece of white card that I've sprayed with Medici Mixed Media in Wedgwood. I then layed cling film over the top and 'scrunched' it between my fingers. When it dried it left a faint ripple effect on the card. I then stamped with Adirondack Rust ink, the swirls and the other images and words were stamped with Archival Sepia ink. The stamps are a mixture of Elusive Images, Clarity stamps and TJ Designs Vintage Collage stamps.

A little more tiling happened tonight so we're getting there slow but sure. I shall definitely be glad to see the back of it now. The lounge and stairs need decorating but there's no way that's happening any time soon ! These 'house' jobs get in the way of more important things ...like crafting !

Just a note .......

This is my card for this week's Passion for Promarker challenge which was to use Cocoa and Rose Pink. The main image is my favourite Sugar Nellie stamp called Planting Some Love. I've stamped her with black Memento ink then shaded with mainly; Rose Pink, Blossom, Cocoa, Cinammon, Sandstone, Forest Green and Moss. I then cut her out with a square Nestability and mounted it onto a scalloped square. The background corner pieces were punched with a Fiskars edge punch and layered. The spotty paper I've cut out with Labels One Nestabilitiy. I then decided it was too 'clean' looking so I sponged Distresss inks in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo around the edge and stamped one of the swirls from the Basic Grey Two Scoops set around the edge in the Vintage Photo ink. The sentiment is a stamp from a Papermania set stamped with Archival Sepia ink. The flowers are Papermania too with a coloured pearl in the centre. I think I need to make a purchase of some new flowers as I'm getting a little bored with these!

It's been a beautiful day today, a pity that I've been stuck in an office all day but it does lift your spirits when the sun shines. Got back on my Wii Fit tonight for the first time in weeks...crikey

that was a shock to the system....lol....We're even talking about getting the bikes out again!

Pink Elephant Challenge

This is my card for this week's Pink Elephant Challenge, which was to use turquoise, brown and neutral. I was going to combine this card with this weeks Monday Mojo but got sidetracked ! The sentiment is from a set of Serendipity stamps, which I masked off so that I could stamp the words underneath each other. I stamped it with Stazon Teal Blue along with the background paper which was stamped with a Basic Grey stamp from the Two Scoops set. I sponged some Teal Blue around the edge of the paper as well. The sentiment was cut out with a circle Nestability, sponged around the edge with Distress ink - Vintage Photo and mounted onto a scalloped Nestability. I then cut out three of the Labels One Nestabilities and sponged the Distress Ink around the largest to add some contrast against the background. Added the ribbon and a brad along with some pearls which I've coloured with a blue and a green peel off pen to get the shade I wanted. All of the papers used are Basic Grey.

Not much action in the kitchen tonight but it is Monday and I hate them as much as my other half so he's forgiven ! I think I've just got enough time for another cup of tea before bed.

First things first ....

Before I do anything else tonight I must pass on the Blog Awards that I've been so kindly given by my lovely friends Vic and Sheila.

I've actually been given the same award twice, but I'm still only doing 5 things about myself...you'd be bored rigid otherwise ! So here goes :

• the only food I don't like is offal, which pretty much leaves just about everything else to have a go at !

Another baby....and it's a girl !

This is a card I've made for a lady from work. She had her baby on Thursday last week and celebrated her other babies first birthday the week before so she's certainly got her work cut out ! The main image is actually a freebie stamp that came with a Craft Stamper magazine. I've stamped it once onto the card and then again and clear embossed it and cut it out, mounting it on top of the first image with foam pads. Apologies, I don't know who the paper is by as it was a scrap piece I had left over. I've stamped the name - Isla May - in Pearlescent Orchid Brilliance ink and I also sponged the same ink around the image before I cut it out with a circle Nestability. I've hand drawn the stitching detail around the edge and then added some pearl hearts. This should have been a quick card but I just couldn't decided on how to add the name ! It's taken me hours !

So now I need to show you what I've been doing as well as making the above......

...this is the new unit that arrived on Friday for all of my inks. I've given it a couple of coats of stain and it was put up on the wall this afternoon. Isn't it marvellous ! It's made me realise I definitely need to buy some more inks but it's also given me so much room on my desk.

Plus the long awaited shelf has been put up too ! I'm now in the process of hanging up all of the bits that are floating around my room that need a home.

Check out the clear desk ! I don't know how long it will last but it sure looks good at the moment.

I also need to catch up on some Blog Awards that have been given to me. I'm going to do it as my first job tomorrow. All this tidying up has made me very tired....lol..... plus the walking up and down the tow path this morning while my other half was taking his photos. At least it stayed fine, so all in all a very good day, can't say it will be tomorrow !

Ssssshhhhhhh !

I know these are odd images to open a blog entry with, but I was absolutely amazed so I wanted to share. I started out with a pale lilac flower, as above, and decided I wanted to try and distress it a little. So I swiped Eggplant Adirondack ink over it, decided I didn't like the effect and left it to one side.

When I picked the flower up 24 hours later the ink had completely covered the flower and changed it's colour ! If you'd seen the mess I'd made just after applying the ink you would understand why I'm so amazed at how good the flower looks now. Might try this again with some different colours.

So look what the 'lovely' post man brought me, a set of Darkroom Door stamps ! I've been eyeing these up for some time and decided I really do 'need' them ! It's my lovely man's birthday soon and he eats, sleeps, breathes photography so these stamps are perfect ! This will be number one card for him, but I normally make 2 or 3 so I have a choice. Problem is he keeps popping in to my craft room at very awkward moments ! I think I'll have to put up a 'don't disturb' sign ! The background was made by stamping first onto a scrap piece of paper then on to the card, hence making it paler. The main image is stamped with Memento black ink then cut out with Nestabilities Labels 2. The sentiment is stamped in the same ink then I've used a ticket punch on the corners. The photograph corners are cut out on my Cricut using the Jasmine cartridge. The strip across the centre is the same stamp stamped in a line and then mounted on to black card. These stamps are definitely going to get some use and I'm sure there will be some more Darkroom Door stamps purchased in the near future !

Well we've had a beautiful day today and we've also been very industrious too ! Over half of the kitchen is now tiled and it looks gorgeous. We've decided that all work and no play makes us very dull people so we're off out tomorrow, up to somewhere near Nantwich in search of some more photographic shots. I did see a little craft shop that may need investigating too !

2 Challenges in one !

This card is for 2 challenges, one is for the Tanda Teaser 'Forever Friends' and the other is The Pink Elephant challenge, which was to use 3 brads, 1 flower and designer paper. So, the main image is a download from Charmed Cards and Crafts, as is the sentiment. The image was shaded with Pro Markers, which I had a bit of a problem with as the ink from the pens was spreading out like you wouldn't believe. I need to find some different card me thinks ! This was then cut out with the Labels One Nestabilities. The corners are a Cuttlebug die, the detail across the bottom is a PaperArtsy stamp and the flower is punched from basic Grey Paper and Bazzill card. The background paper is also Basic Grey.

Well we've finally done it and bought some tiles for the kitchen ! Just got to put them up now, there's always a snag ! I know what a certain person will be doing this week end....

Passion for Pro Markers

Apologies for the colours on this photo they seem to have come out very subdued and the more I've fiddled with it the worse it's got ! So, this is my card for the Passion for ProMarkers challenge this week. The challenge this week was to follow a sketch but to use any colours. The main image is a Sugar Nellie stamp called Fragile Beauty, shaded with blues and lilacs. I put the dark purple Coredinations card through my Cuttlebug using the Distressed stripes embossing folder. The main image is cut out with rectangle Nestability and mounted on a scalloped rectangle Nestability. The small flowers and leaves are all punched and then I've added a drop of liquid pearls in the centre. The pearls are coloured with a peel off pen to blend in.

Where does the time go...as soon as I sit down it's as though someone winds the clock forward ! Well time for bed as the alarm will be doing it's usual nasty trick of waking me up at stupid o'clock.

Beside the seaside !

I really do feel the need to remind myself that it's summer, especially as I drove passed a pub tonight advertising bookings for Christmas parties ! I nearly crashed the car ...lol...!
So, the card I've made tonight is my submission to join the DT over on Bizzy Becs Creatalicious Challenge blog. There was a sketch to follow but the rest was up to me. I started by sponging Adirondack ink onto white card in Sandal, Stonewashed, Denim and Stream. I then stamped the star fish over the top with Stonewashed ink. The main image is a stamp from a Rubbadubbadoo set which I stamped on to white card in Denim, then cut out with a rectangle Nestability. I swiped the Denim ink around the edge to add definition. I then mounted it on toBazill card which was cut out with the next size up rectangle Nestability. The seagull was from the same set of stamps and was stamped in Denim on to white card then cut out and mounted onto foam pads, which you can see a little better in the below photo. The three shells were actually all on one stamp, so I masked the others so I could stamp them individually. I then used the smallest circle Nestability to cut them out and swiped round the edge with Denim ink. The 'Wish you were here' stamp is from a Tandastamps set and was just stamped onto the sponged card with Denim ink. The last thing to mention is the three eyelets added at the top.

I've tried to give you a different angle of the card so you can see how it is put together a little better. When I get myself organised I'm going to start and photograph cards as they are constructed as I know I'm always interested in how other people put their cards together. We all have our own little 'tricks of the trade'!

So now that I've got over the shock of seeing a Christmas advert, I suppose it's not really too early to be thinking about making cards for Christmas. Maybe next month ......

Ever had one of those days.....

...when everything you put together doesn't look right ? Well I have today. This card is another one for an order. I don't know what it is about wedding and anniversary cards, but they seem to test me to my limits !
So, for this card I silver embossed the main image, which is from a Joanna Sheen set of stamps. I lightly coloured the flowers with my watercolour pencils, then cut the image out. I used the largest Labels One Nestie and cut out the vellum. The background card is a piece I had left over from the wedding card order I made this week, the design is from Pink Petticoat. I had a bit of a dilemma with the initials as, as their names are Eileen and Ron, ER was a bit tricky...lol ...! When I put the small peel off in between the initials I thought I could get away with it.

Phew, I'm glad that's done I can start getting all inky now ! It won't be today though as we're off out in about 30mins to my sister's as it's my youngest niece's birthday 'do'. Bring on the birthday cake !

New challenge site and blog candy too !

'B' is for ....

The inspiration for this card was the Colour Create challenge which was to use pink, orange and green. I'm not sure I've done the challenge completely right as I've also included the ribbon and the bazill card. The background was made by using the piece of card that I cut the Sizzix Scribbles from and I've sponged Adirondack inks - Butterscotch and Cranberry over it. The inks make a gorgeous orange colour and the pattern is wonderful. The main image is a Clarity Stamp which I've stamped in black Memento and shaded with Pro Markers. On the subject of Pro Markers if any one is looking to start collecting them Hobbycraft are selling them for less than £5 for a set of 5( courtesy of Sheila over at Manicstamper). I then sponged Lettuce Adirondack ink around the edge of the image and mounted it on to a scrap piece of card that I'd brayered previously. The letter is from a K & Co chipboard alphabet set.

The colours of this challenge really attracted me today as it's been so grey and wet I wanted to do something cheerful. I'm also getting quite scared that I'm leaning towards bright colours ! Must do something in sepia tomorrow ...lol....! I've been a very spoilt girl this week end as I've been treated to a new external hard drive for my lap top, so I can back up all of my work, and I've got the most wonderful piece of storage on order. I'll take a photo when it arrives, I'm so excited !
